The 13th Biannual Ausglass Conference will be held in Perth Western Australia from 24-27 January 2003. The conference has a theme of Isolation &Collaboration and how these issues affect the practice of glass artists and craftspeople as makers, artists and theorists within the Art and Studio Glass Movement.
These key issues of isolation and collaboration will be interpreted in geographic, demographic, cultural, economic, social, or institutional contexts that influence our individual and collective development. The aim of the conference is to identify how such structures can be engaged to positively complement our work as glass artists and craftspeople.
Anyone interested in glass should consider attending the Conference, whether directly involved with the making of glass objects and installations or not. It will present an unparallelled view of the state of Australian Glass Art in 2003, widely recognized as one the world leaders in this field. Glass artists cannot afford to miss the conference, with its opportunities to network with other Australian and international artists. Artists and interested people from outside Australia are particularly welcome. Oh! By the way Western Australia is really beautiful to visit, and you can combine a holiday with the conference. The weather in Perth in January is typically dry, sunny and warm, a real break for those from a Northern winter.
